⚠Small Amounts — Most Cats are Lactose Intolerant
Can Cats Eat Cheese?
Most adult cats are lactose intolerant and may experience digestive upset from cheese. A very small piece of hard cheese (which has less lactose) is unlikely to cause harm, but dairy is not recommended.
📋Nutrition Notes
Contains protein and calcium, but cats don't need dairy. Hard cheeses like cheddar have less lactose than soft cheeses.
🥄Serving Guidance
If offering, use a pea-sized piece of hard cheese as a rare treat or to hide medication. Monitor for digestive upset.
⚠️Risks to Know
Most cats lack sufficient lactase enzyme. Can cause diarrhea, gas, bloating. High fat content can contribute to obesity and pancreatitis.
