Example Brand B

The FDA classifies pet food recalls into three categories. Class I recalls involve products that could cause serious health problems or death β these are the most urgent. Class II recalls involve products that may cause temporary or medically reversible health problems. Class III recalls are for products unlikely to cause health problems but that violate FDA regulations.
Common reasons for pet food recalls include Salmonella or Listeria contamination, elevated levels of vitamins or minerals (especially vitamin D, which can cause kidney failure), foreign object contamination, and incorrect labeling of ingredients or allergens.
If you discover that your pet's food has been recalled, stop feeding it immediately, store the remaining product in case it's needed for testing, contact the manufacturer for a refund, and consult your veterinarian if your pet has shown any symptoms.
